Kigali once again proved its growing status as a hub for international football as it hosted the thrilling Group B matches of the FIFA Series 2026, bringing together four nations from across different continents in a unique and competitive mini-tournament.

Held at the iconic Kigali Pelé Stadium, Group B featured Aruba, Liechtenstein, Tanzania, and Macau—a diverse mix of teams representing CONCACAF, UEFA, CAF, and AFC respectively. The tournament format followed a knockout-style system, ensuring each team played two high-stakes matches within the FIFA international window.

From the very first whistle, Group B delivered intensity, quality, and unpredictability. In the opening fixtures, Aruba showcased their attacking strength with a commanding victory over Macau, while Liechtenstein edged Tanzania in a tightly contested encounter to book their place in the final.

The final match, played on March 29, brought a vibrant atmosphere to Kigali Pelé Stadium as fans turned out in large numbers to witness a historic showdown. Aruba rose to the occasion with a dominant performance, defeating Liechtenstein 4-1 to emerge as Group B champions.

Beyond the results, the tournament highlighted Rwanda’s ability to successfully host international sporting events. The electric crowds, smooth organization, and cultural displays added a unique flavor to the competition, reinforcing Kigali’s reputation as a welcoming destination for global football.

The FIFA Series itself is designed to provide more opportunities for national teams—especially those outside the traditional elite—to face opponents from different continents, gain experience, and grow competitively on the international stage.

For fans in Rwanda, Group B was more than just football—it was a celebration of diversity, competition, and the unifying power of the game.

As the curtain falls on Group B, Aruba’s triumph stands as a testament to preparation, belief, and execution, while Kigali once again shines as a proud host on the world football map.
