The Fédération Rwandaise de Football Association (FERWAFA) has officially announced its support for the re-election of Gianni Infantino as President of FIFA for the 2027–2031 term, reaffirming Rwanda’s confidence in his leadership and long-term vision for global football.
In a statement released by the federation, FERWAFA highlighted the progress made under Infantino’s tenure, pointing to notable strides in football development, governance reforms, and broader inclusion across the sport. Since assuming office, Infantino has overseen initiatives aimed at expanding football’s reach, increasing investment in member associations, and strengthening transparency within FIFA structures.
FERWAFA emphasized that continuity in leadership is critical at a time when the global game faces both evolving challenges and significant opportunities. The federation believes that maintaining Infantino at the helm will help consolidate ongoing reforms while driving further growth at all levels of football—from grassroots to elite competitions.
“Football has seen meaningful transformation in recent years,” the statement noted, adding that sustained leadership will be key to building on these gains and ensuring equitable development across all regions.
Rwanda’s football governing body also reiterated its commitment to supporting FIFA’s strategic objectives, particularly those that enhance infrastructure, youth development, and the global competitiveness of emerging football nations.
With the next FIFA presidential term set to begin in 2027, endorsements from member associations like FERWAFA are expected to play a significant role in shaping the electoral landscape.
FERWAFA concluded by expressing optimism about the future of the game, voicing confidence that global football will continue to grow and thrive under Infantino’s stewardship.
